Stormwater Management

   Hydroventiv

Hydroventiv represents the next generation of rooftop based stormwater low impact development (LID) solutions. Our solution creates a reliable and predictable stormwater detention-based management system to fulfill on-site stormwater management requirements.

When a green roof is dry, it acts much like a sponge and retains a lot of water. However, if it is saturated from a recent rainfall the green roof, like a sponge, will absorb very little water.

Hydroventiv enables reliable stormwater retention and runoff control year round. During wet seasons when the green roof layer is saturated, Hydroventiv still can retain a lot of rainfall.  The Hydroventiv utilizes a flow control best management practice (BMP) system that enables to match the flow requirements for nearly any site enabling a runoff rate as low as 0.1 cubic feet per second per acre.

The water captured in Hydroventiv is used to irrigate the plants above while slowly being released from the roof to prepare for the next rain event. With the improved performance of Hydroventiv, it is possible to address on-site stormwater management needs on the rooftop instead of using land dependent solutions on the ground.

Hydroventiv

  • Water is not standing directly on the membrane
  • Water is slowly released within 24h
  • Controlled runoff with site-specific water release rates
  • Reliable 2 gallons per sq. ft. water retention
  • Invisible and autonomous irrigation system

Hydroventiv is the combination of a Blue-Roof layer and a Green roof layer. A plastic reservoir called Hydrostock is placed underneath Hydropack green roof system. Different components are placed inside this reservoir: a sub irrigation system that works by wicking the water from the reservoir to the plants; an engineered flow control that insures a constant release of water and that can be set to whatever the flow needs to be for the project; Connectors to attach each tray with each other and insure that the system is water tight.

Hydroventiv Product Specifications

The complete Hydroventiv system is designed to be installed quickly and easily, much like a construction product.  The Hydrostock reservoirs are placed before the installation of the Hydropack green roof, line per line.

Compared to many extensive green roof systems, Hydropack requires little maintenance, even associated with Hydroventiv. However, this small amount of maintenance is essential to maintain a successful system. We recommend that a formalized maintenance plan be created before the installation of any project. This upkeep can be performed by building maintenance, landscapers, or through a contract with a specialized organization.
